Why

Adding processes, creating events, testing, etc will sometimes take a while to show their results in Zenoss because there are cycle settings. This means that checks for running processes, events, and snmp perf data might not be checked for some amount of time. These settings are of course customizable.

NOTE: Be aware that these settings can flood networks bandwidth with overhead, so it is wise to use it for testing only, and scale them back for real world.

WARNING, ACHTUNG!: RUN THIS ON A TEST SERVER ONLY. Do not modify these settings on a production system, unless you know what you are doing. You can possibly end up with a downed system. You were warned!

How

  • In the left-hand menu, under ‘Management’, click ‘Collectors’
  • Click the ‘localhost’ collector, unless you use a more complex setup.
  • Click the ‘Edit’ tab
  • Fields to allow faster responses to process changes:
    • Process Cycle Interval
    • Status Cycle Interval
  • REMEMBER WHAT THESE WERE AND TO SET THEM BACK

FIXME note that the above pictures numbers are NOT default. Get a default screenshot in here...
